Baguio for a Break

there are 2 long weekends this August and when a friend invited me to come to Baguio with her, i started looking for cheaper flights to Manila. when i found one of
Tiger Airways i booked right away not knowing then that August 27 is still a holiday (bummer!).

now few days away from my first ever personal break of the year i'm excited but no idea what to do. i've been to Baguio a few times but long trips excite the hell out of me. it's like a vacation for me already to be on my own mind and thoughts.

anyway, i started looking and reading blogs on things to do while in Baguio City and here's what i hope to achieve ü:

  1. Enjoy the super chilly air at 4 in the morning - i hope to be up at this so unholy hour ;)
  2. Have a taste of Benguet coffee - hmmmm i'm a coffee lover so might as well have a taste of this
  3. Visit Pink Sisters Convent - i always like the serenity in any Pink Sisters Convent so must go here
  4. Try Star Cafe's pancit located @ Session Road - i'm a lover of noodles!ü
  5. Eat at Chocolate de Batirol and try their Taba ng Talangka - hmmm now this one sounds new to me
  6. Barbecue @ Mila's stall located in front of Cake World, corner Bokowkan and Naguilian Roads. Other skewered yummies: chicken intestines (must try!) - Bacolod for me is a haven for anything barbecued so must try this for a change
  7. Visit La Azotea @ Session Road - it seems this is where art enthusiasts hang out. although i'm not an artist but a lover of artists' works;) Choose from shirts, necklaces, bracelets with an artsy touch. Very Baguio.
  8. Try Ebai's meals - looked up where this is and here's what i got: Leonard Wood drive toward St. Joseph’s church, past Teacher’s Camp, past the bridge until you see a sign, "Ebai’s Café and Pastries". they say they have the best chocolate and carrot cakes but i'm not so into cakes but i'll give it a try anyway if i can ;)
  9. Shop for Ukay Ukay at Bayanihan - i always remember Baguio for their soooo cheap ukay-ukay.  we were going mountain climbing once to Mt. Ugu and we had to go there for extra clothing for it was extra cold up there and 'twas such a big help. so for sure i would be there!ü
  10. Corsican Rice at Pizza Volante. Order this with pieces of bacon and an omelette. Perfect breakfast with their hot chocolate. They are open 24/7 @ Session Road. - i hope after waking up at 4am to achieve the number 1 i'll find myself sitting there and enjoy the hot chocolate. hahahaha
  11. Sit down for a sketching session with the artists.  Artists in the Botanical Gardens will finish your sketch in an hour - this one's gotta be done.  wonder if they do nude sketch? hahahahaha
  12. Go artsy in Tam-Awan Village; have a short hike, too - i love hiking!
  13. Drink strawberry taho (taro) @ La Trinidad
  14. Drink a cup of the most expensive coffee.  Kopi Luwak, the most expensive coffee beans in the world, which comes from civet's excretion, is produced in the Philippines and in Cordillera Coffee, an unassuming coffee shop in SM Baguio, one can have a cup, but it is not cheap! Known in the menu as Kape Alamid, a cup costs around $7 - a steal, considering that it is sold for $120 to $500+ a pound in the US and Japan. - hmmmm if budget permits, why not?
  15. Hike up Mt. Sto. Tomas (Baguio's highest point and get 360˚ view of Baguio City, La Union and South China Sea.  Mt. Santo Tomas is also called “Ra-dar”, a nickname that was derived from two disc-shaped radio transmitters built during the American reign in the Philippines Mt. Santo Tomas is quite unique compared to other mountains because of its accessibility. It can easily be reached by foot or by wheels. From Baguio City, the foot of the mountain is located just about 18 km. - did i mention that i love hiking and i do mountain climbing too?  although not regularly now but if there's time to do this, i wouldn't mind.
  16. Watch the Philippine Military Academy cadets parade on Sunday mornings at the PMA grandstand.  Go there by 11am before the cadets march to their mess hall for lunch - this would be fun and something new for me ;)
  17. Oh My Gulay is on the top floor of La Azotea Building along Session Road - i have watched a few TV shows featuring this so might take a look este taste of this ;)

ok now i think i'm over excited for the trip already.  i hope to crossed out all of these before leaving the place.

Self Love and Care

i found out another great link and just signed up for positive vibes. ;)  here's the link
Then i came across this beautiful reminder to love and care for myself:
Here are seven ideas to train the self-care habit.
  1. Start your morning by thinking of five things you're grateful for.
  2. If possible, practice mindful eating or drinking coffee or tea for a few minutes in the morning.
  3. Practice a mindful check in during the day once or twice.
  4. Take at least a 20-minute walk each day to care for your body.
  5. Put your hands on your heart and wish yourself well, to be healthy and to be happy.
  6. When things are tough, just acknowledge that it's a hard moment and keep your critics at bay.
  7. At night, look back on the day, forgive all the people you're holding grudges against, release that burden and have a better night's sleep.

It's really true that when you invite positive energy in your life, it seems everything just come to you like a magnet.  Just every thing that you wish you want to experience and be.

i'm reading tweets and they all say the sun is finally out in Manila.  Here's another thank you for the sun:

"This sun of GOD loves all life equally and without favor. Now if our sun can give life here in the physical world or manifested creation, we can only imagine what light our spiritual lives in eternity will be like."

then it reminds me this morning i heard on TV there will meteor showers tomorrow.  hmmm i hope the night sky and the weather will be nice and kind enough so i can wait and watch out for it.  They said it will start at 11pm onwards 3am.  it's a rare occurrence at this universe so might as well experience it when i can.

Beauty Products

so i woke up today feeling refreshed from the sunflower oil.  don't worry i tell things as it is and i don't recommend products that i find myself not good. ;)

3 products to try on today.  so you can guess that most of the products i bought last night, is for my personal use. hahahaha.  the only thing that i sold, which i've yet to ask how was it, is the deodorant because i didn't grow up feeling the need of using it. i hope i don't smell bad.ü  sold it to my housemate and colleague.

on bathing today, the first thing i did was to keep the shampoo and facial wash away.  it is now in the box for giveaways. then tried this shampoo and conditioner which the smell is like aromatic with lush vanilla.

hindi sya ganun kabula tulad ng usual shampoos but with the conditioner after ok sya.  i've yet to observe after the day kung ok pa din ang aking hair but so far early afternoon now ok sya at hindi dry from the usual.

then before heading off to office, i would usually put in moisturizer and it's Myra E but since i got from last night might as well try it:
after putting in powder off i go. now in the joyplace, i noticed my face is even more oily and it must be because of the moisturizer so maybe it will help to retouch during the day.

anyway, will give more feedback in the coming days when i get used to the products. ;_))

let's go natural, organic and chemical-free! be Pinay. be beautiful.ü

Pinay Beauty

last night, i signed up as one of the dealers of Human Heart Nature at their Bacolod City branch.  Closing time is 6pm and i hurriedly went up quarter to 6. ;)) they have a 2 nice and accommodating staff who helped me with starter's kit.  I signed up for the cheapest P799 which comes with 10 magalogues and 10 fliers along with bestselling products worth P799 and i bought some extra not part of the package as i wanted to use it myself.  I had so much fun shopping and found the products cool.  been looking for one organic, natural, and harmful chemical free beauty products since i saw this picture:

and i found Human Heart Nature just the way i want plus it can be another source of extra income for me. ;)

Went home excited to try out the new products and i love the smell and feel of this chamomile feminine wash:
and then i tried this balancing facial wash which is nice because it has bits which is good for facial massage at the same time applying it. ;)

lately, i'm using Eskinol's toner but since i found one at the store, i tried it too.  i like the smell and it does not irritate the face that much so i guess i'm sticking to this from now onü:
lasrt thing to try for the night was the sunflower oil and i found out can put a bit of it on the hair too.  sometimes after hair drying, it's good to apply something for the hair to shine and will try it next time.  what i did was put it in my face and underarm because it can lighten up your underarm it says in the label.
what i noticed is matipid sya kasi konting patak lang is more than enough to cover my face, neck, and underarm. then my face looked better the morning i woke up. ;)  so i believe for younger looking skin it's not just the food that we take and exercise but the things that we apply too.

let's go organic, natural and chemical-free! be Pinay. be beautiful and it's proudly Philippine made.
