Love - does it really hurts?

aha. i'm back. it's been awhile.  have left this entry hanging for weeks now and re-reading it now, it makes some sense.  now it's finding its way to my being.  i am being questioned, especially lately, on what love truly is and what's loving and what's not.  i'd like to believe that my navigator in life is love yet i know have so much to remember, re-assess, re-live and redefine truths when it comes to this.  guess when you are put in a situation that you have never dreamed of or even thought about or let's say have a strong disagreement of it in the past, you needed to befriend and accept it as it is and stop going against it for in the end, you will see the enemy and discover it has been you.  i am no perfect but i can say i am perfection in its moment of each day given the model of the world as i see it and experience.  it will never be my intention to purposefully hurt any one for i treat every one as part of me in best ways i can.

so i go spreading love and kindness in this world.  forgive me if you think or believe that i have hurt you along the way.

most of our hurts, disappointments, worries, wounds, irritations, feelings of inadequacy, and conflicts with others are rooted in a strong sense of "me, mine, and I."  Relaxing this sense - while also being good to other beings, including the one wearing your nametag - is a powerful source of strength, love, and inner peace.

Sometimes you just cant tell someone how you feel, you can never really find the right words to make them understand.

Love never leaves, people do.

Whatever this set of rules may be for a couple, whether insisting on monogamy or making certain exceptions, that is for them alone to decide.  What matters is that, once we've decided and agreed upon the terms of our relationship, we must stand by these decisions.  In doing so, we offer our partner and ourselves a certain degree of freedom and respect as the separate individuals we are.  We are then free to love our partner for who they are, not as extensions of ourselves or people we must control, watch out for, or feel suspicious toward.  When two people in a couple accept and appreciate each other's uniqueness and independence, they're often surprised by how much closer they get to each other.  When we give up some control, we frequently find that we gain much more than we lose.

Love is a good Karma

Just inspired to collect thoughts on love today and here are quite good re-minders ;)  It's a happy Saturday coming out of a nice event that i attended on last night with CICM's 150 years celebration.  It was such a blast!  Bumaha ng pagkain at musika lalo na si Utleg from Baguio.  Here he is:

He even sang No Woman No Cry just we were leaving. Awwwww so sweet.  The line still rings on my head: "Everything's gonna be alright." In deed messages abound when you need to hear it just in time.ü

All fear (and that which derives from it, such as anger, hatred, and violence) is a distorted form of love.

All expressions of anger and fear, hatred and violence are distorted wailings of Love. Remember that. For the rest of your life, remember that.  The person who grasps this, grasps at the edges of Divinity.

No victim, no guilt. Love is a guiltless place to live.

The love you give to others is a gift that keeps on returning. Every kind word, tender kiss and strong arm to learn on, is loaded with good karma. Be patient and trust that the love you give will find its way back to you, with interest. Believe that you are worth the wait. You are loveable; ready, willing and able to love and be loved.

On Raising Kids

being a great believer of Byron Katie, i follow most of her social networks so i get to be re-minded everyday to do her famous 'the work'.  today i came into her newsletter site and read about this great stuff on parenting:

The best way, the only effective way, is to serve as an example and not to impose your will. I used to try to make my children moral by telling them what they should do, what they shouldn’t do, what they should like, what they shouldn’t like.

In my confusion, I was trying to be a good mother, and I thought that this was the way to make them good people. When they didn’t do what I wanted, I would shame or punish them, believing that it was for their own good.  So in reality what I taught them was to break my laws and be very careful not to get caught.  I taught them that the way to have peace in our home was to sneak and lie.  Many of the things I was teaching them not to do I had done myself and hadn’t admitted to them, and some of the things I was still doing even as they watched.  I expected them not to do these things simply because I said so.  It didn’t work.  It was a recipe for confusion.

I lost my children twenty [now 27] years ago. I came to see that they were never mine to begin with.  That was an extreme loss: they truly died to me.  I discovered that who I thought they were had never existed at all.  And my experience of them now is more intimate than I can describe.

Today, when my children ask me what they should do, I say, “I don’t know, honey.” Or, “Here’s what I did in a similar situation, and it worked for me.  And you can always know that I’m here to listen and that I’m always going to love you, whatever decision you make.  You’ll know what to do.  And also, sweetheart, you can’t do it wrong. I promise you that.”  I finally learned to tell my children the truth.

It’s painful to think you know what’s best for your children.  It’s hopeless.  When you think that you need to protect them, you’re teaching anxiety and dependence. But when you question your mind and learn how not to be mentally in your children’s business, finally there’s an example in the house: someone who knows how to live a happy life.  They notice that you have your act together and that you’re happy, so they start to follow.  You have taught them everything they know about anxiety and dependence, and now they begin to learn something else, something about what freedom looks like.  That’s what happened with my children.  They just don’t see a lot of problems anymore, because in the presence of someone who doesn’t have a problem, they can’t hold on to one.

If your happiness depends on your children being happy, that makes them your hostages.  I think I’ll just skip them, and be happy from here.  That’s a lot saner.  It’s called unconditional love.

Why would I give my children advice when I can’t possibly know what’s best for them?  If what they do brings them happiness, that’s what I want; if it brings them unhappiness, that’s what I want, because they learn from that what I could never teach them.  I celebrate the way of it, and they trust that, and I trust it.

beautiful way of looking at things.  if one day, i decide i would like to be a mother, i hope i can live this out to my own children and just let them be and be there for them no matter what.  freedom is something to be taught as early as so that they grow up freeing others instead of imprisoning them.  be free.  be love.

Self Love and Care

i found out another great link and just signed up for positive vibes. ;)  here's the link
Then i came across this beautiful reminder to love and care for myself:
Here are seven ideas to train the self-care habit.
  1. Start your morning by thinking of five things you're grateful for.
  2. If possible, practice mindful eating or drinking coffee or tea for a few minutes in the morning.
  3. Practice a mindful check in during the day once or twice.
  4. Take at least a 20-minute walk each day to care for your body.
  5. Put your hands on your heart and wish yourself well, to be healthy and to be happy.
  6. When things are tough, just acknowledge that it's a hard moment and keep your critics at bay.
  7. At night, look back on the day, forgive all the people you're holding grudges against, release that burden and have a better night's sleep.

It's really true that when you invite positive energy in your life, it seems everything just come to you like a magnet.  Just every thing that you wish you want to experience and be.

i'm reading tweets and they all say the sun is finally out in Manila.  Here's another thank you for the sun:

"This sun of GOD loves all life equally and without favor. Now if our sun can give life here in the physical world or manifested creation, we can only imagine what light our spiritual lives in eternity will be like."

then it reminds me this morning i heard on TV there will meteor showers tomorrow.  hmmm i hope the night sky and the weather will be nice and kind enough so i can wait and watch out for it.  They said it will start at 11pm onwards 3am.  it's a rare occurrence at this universe so might as well experience it when i can.

now, on towards being rich and in retiring early and enjoying your senior years, it's time to click this  betrulyrich and sign up now to know how to enjoy your million just when you retire young ;_)

it's a great Friday today and looking forward to my weekend. I'm feeling better and looking better too. hahahahaaha i guess when you decide to simply love without counting the cost, you feel and look much more beautiful.ü

The Kite Runner and U Take My Breath Away

it's been a while that i have not written something here. hmmmm went through a tunnel that i could say changed my life and enriched me all the same.  it was not easy but i believe that when you're down there's no way but up. so i rise up as a stronger, kinder, more passionate, more compassionate human soul.  it gets harder at times but when you look back and realized all you did is love, then regrets should not set in.  another way to get over is to forgive myself and be even more kind.

over the weekend, i watched The Kite Runner.  if i shed tears reading the book, it's the same with the movie.  what hit me was when the father told his son, Amir, that there's only one sin in the world, and the rest is just a variation of it, and that is stealing.  when you lie, you steal someone his/her right to truth; when you kill, you steal life not only from the victim but also to those who love him/her. a father, a mother, a child, a friend, etc. well, of course the end of the story is that the son found out that his father lied to him and his half-brother.  it is true indeed that what you usually condemn in others, you condemn it within.  there is something within you that which you abhor and it is always worth the self-examination before we say 'bad' things about others.

why it hit home?  that is just what i've been through recently kaya siguro sya nanatiling nakatatak sa utak ko.  kakabasa ko lang din from the book i bought last night, Sex tips for the Living, that i must befriend the intolerant side of me.  kailangan kong isipin palagi na wala sa ibang tao ang mali kundi sa akin.  i think that's what you call being responsible only for your own because we can never change other people to suit our taste.  and if we become responsible for our own life, we stopped playing the victim.  mas madali kasing magturo ng mali o kasalanan ng iba para majustify natin ang ating reaction pero nawawala ang ating power na magdesisyon para sa atin.  hindi nagiging mabuti para sa ating sarili na hindi panghawakan kung ano ang mga nangyayari sa atin.  otherwise we will never grow for we believe that we are just victims and therefore not responsible and liable to our own actions.

another movie that i watched last night is the local film U Take my Breath Away with Piolo and Angelica.  What Nova Villa said to Majoy na hindi mahalaga kung nasaktan ka sa isang relasyon o hindi naging maganda ang ending nito, ang mas mahalaga kasi naranasan ng puso mong magmahal ng totoo.  o di ba sapul!?  naniniwala ako na ang mensahe ng Dios ay dinadaan minsan sa kanta, sa pelikula, sa binabasa, sa nakikita, at sa lahat ng pwede mong mapansin kasi hindi sya talaga nawawala kahit isang segundo, kailangan lang nating makinig a t maging observative.

andito pa rin ang sakit pero palagi kong kinukuwestiyon bakit ba ako nasasaktan?  kung ang purpose ng isang relasyon ay magmahal at magpasaya at maging daan para mag grow ang isang tao, nafulfill ko yun kaya dapat masaya ako.  nasaktan ako kasi nag expect ako na dapat ang tao hindi nagsisinungaling, dapat sinasabi palagi ang totoo pero hindi ko pala hawak yun.  ang totoo ay hindi nila kailangan maging totoo at tapat sa akin just because i'm true and honest to them. kailangan kong tanggapin na iba iba ang tao at hindi sila dumarating para patotohanan ang pinaniniwalaan ko.  sa aspetong ganito, pinasasalamatan ko si Katie Byron with The Work.  malaking influence sya sa aking pananaw sa buhay.  kailangan talagang kwestiyunin palagi ang aking mga naiisip para malaman kung saan nanggagaling ang sakit.  and most of the times, it is our thoughts that is hurting us.  we thought that things must be this way and if they turn out otherwise, then we are hurt but we can get on and go beyond the thought and be really happy.  and that is what she calls accepting what is. siempre hindi ganun kadali palagi pero sino ba ang nagsabi na madali lang mabuhay? hahahaha

life is still amazing with all its intricacies. live well. love much. laugh often. ;)) happy Monday!

today, i am re-minded to be love and to love unconditionally.  and so it is my hope that every single day upon waking up, this would be my prayer before i start the day.  grateful as always to my great mentor, Neale.

“Be a light unto the world, and hurt it not. Seek to build not destroy. Bring My people home.”

How?

By your shining example.
Seek only Godliness.
Speak only in truthfulness.
Act only in love.
Live the Law of Love now and forever more.
Give everything require nothing.
Avoid the mundane.
Do not accept the unacceptable.
Teach all who seek to learn of Me.
Make every moment of your life an outpouring of love.
Use every moment to think the highest thought, say the highest word, do the highest deed. In this, glorify your Holy Self, and thus too, glorify Me.
Bring peace to the Earth by bringing peace to all those whose lives you touch.
Be peace.
Feel and express in every moment your Divine Connection with the All, and with every person, place, and thing.
Embrace every circumstance, own every fault, share every joy, contemplate every mystery, walk in every man’s shoes, forgive every offense (including your own), heal every heart, honor every person’s truth, adore every person’s God, protect every person’s rights, preserve every person’s dignity, promote every person’s interests, provide every person’s needs, presume every person’s holiness, present every person’s greatest gifts, produce every person’s blessing, pronounce every person’s future secure in the assured love of God.

Be a living, breathing example of the Highest Truth that resides within you.
Speak humbly of yourself, lest someone mistake your Highest Truth for boast. Speak softly, lest someone think you are merely calling for attention.
Speak gently, that all might know of Love.
Speak openly, lest someone think you have something to hide.
Speak candidly, so you cannot be mistaken.
Speak often, so that your word may truly go forth.
Speak respectfully, that no one be dishonored.
Speak lovingly, that every syllable may heal.
Speak of Me with every utterance.
Make of your life a gift.
Remember always, you are the gift!
Be a gift to everyone who enters your life, and to everyone whose life you enter. Be careful not to enter another’s life if you cannot be a gift. (You can always be a gift, because you always are the gift—yet sometimes you don’t let yourself know that.)
When someone enters your life unexpectedly, look for the gift that person has come to receive from you…I HAVE SENT YOU NOTHING BUT ANGELS.”

came across this nice article on connections and the following paragraphs hit home:

There is reason for relationships (ALL relationships). It may seem like people come into your life randomly, but stay awake to the sacred synchronicity that EVERYONE arrives as a messenger as if from beyond to teach you something new about the nature of life and love.

Each friend (and acquaintance) represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

that's why i make it a habit to be grateful to each person who comes into my life and for those who have stayed, came and go, and just even met eye contact with.  i believe we are all inter-connected one way or another and there is always a reason for every little things that happen.  so for all my family, friends, relatives, acquaintances, colleagues, and every soul i have met and yet to meet, thank you. i live for the day that there is only love in my heart left for every one for that is what our true nature is...LOVE.

how to be positive in a negative world

Here are 6 strategies on how you can be a blessing-magnet, and be positive in a negative world:

1. Feel the love. Receive the love from the people around you, no matter how small or imperfect. Celebrate every little gesture of love you receive. Make it a big thing! And you’ll discover that you’ll receive more and more love.

2. Be grateful. Give thanks for every small blessing you receive. Before going to sleep, count at least 5 blessings you received on that day. Gratitude attracts more blessings to come your way.
3. Trust. Yes, do all you possibly can! But at the end of the day, stop worrying. Surrender and trust God instead. Believe that the best is yet to come.

4. Have a vision. When you have a detailed, graphic, exciting vision burning in your heart, you can’t help but be positive.

5. Love yourself. Be deliberate in loving yourself. Respect yourself. Don’t belittle yourself, don’t limit yourself, and don’t call yourself derogatory names. Meet your needs. Aggressively care for yourself. When you do, others will respect you, love you, and meet your needs as well.
6. Love others. Whatever love you give, you receive it back multiplied. So wake up each morning because you want to love. Make love the purpose of your life. When you make love the reason for every thing that you do, even if there are dark storm clouds around you, the sun will always shine in your heart.
