Final Day of my 7day Diet

Whoa! i am on my final day. can't believe it! i survived those days without rice? amazing. =) but so happy to have gone this far. i am to consume only red rice (which is good because i have been a fan of red organic rice for almost a year now), lots of vegetables and fruit juices. i even had to do my last minute buying last night in Libertad's Save More as i can't think of any fresh fruit juice (i don't have a juicer) but the one's in the tetra pack that they sell. The apple juice caught my attention and so i got it.

I steamed camote tops and pechay for my breakfast and lunch to go along with my one cup of red rice. i was doing well until lunch. and then something unexpected happened. one of our partners came to visit and turned out it's her birthday today, and we are having Jeff Watson of cbm SEAPRO since last week to help us with the forthcoming 5 year review and evaluation of Cataract Foundation and today is his 3rd year of surviving heart bypass. isn't that calls for a celebration and party? and so party we had. overflowed greenwich pizza, my all time favorite buko pie, and there's egg pie....wow! how can i resist???

and so i broke my diet with less than 5 hours to go to finish it off. whoa! but i am happy with myself to have gone this far. i think i am going to do this again as i need to shed off more pounds.

7days of diet=2 kilos lost that's a lot to be thankful for and give myself a pat. well done buddy ;_)

Foot Massage (do-it-yourself)

Found another great article especially when you feel so stressed. a few minutes of foot massage they say is like having a full body massage since everything is all interconnected anyway. that's what i think. hahaha. this foot massage is based on the principles of ayurvedic reflexology.
  1. Wash your feet with warm soap and water, then wipe them dry.
  2. Apply a small amount of sesame seed or almond massage oil mixed with lavender essential oils. (whatever massage oil that you have will do i guess)
  3. Start rubbing at the base of your little toe.
  4. Move over to the base of the next toe and continue rubbing.
  5. Apply slight pressure on the flesh between your little toe and the next toe over.
  6. Now move to your middle toe.
  7. Massage, stretch, and pull your middle toe in a circular motion, then do the same with your other toes.
  8. With your fingertips or the palms of your hands, gently apply pressure to both sides of your heel just below the ankle, and then rub around your ankle clockwise to boost energy and circulation.
  9. Finally, knead and squeeze your calf muscle to release tension.
  10. Repeat on the second foot.
but of course nothing beats having someone do this massage for you. =)

6th day of my 7day Diet

it's great Monday and i'm on my 6th day. can't stop myself weighing and so curious how am i so far. and guess what?! i am 59.9 kilos today. hahaahahahahahaha it's all worth it. from over 62kilos before i started this to 59.9 my gosh! i am shouting for joy! reaping the harvest of my sacrifices =) and i still have some pounds to lose until the last day tomorrow. hmmmm inspiring!

today i can have all the beef and vegetables i want. so i cooked my own menu. beef with green pepper, tomatoes (again), basil, eggplant, and squash (these veggies are leftover from the previous days) it turned out a good menu after all. =)

for breakfast i still have a bit of melon so i had that and then the beef veggies. packed some for my lunch too and for merienda i'm not suppose to eat fruits but 'lomboy' freshly harvested was tempting so i had my fill.

my co-worker arrived from Manila and brought my favorite krispykremes donut...hay.......it has to wait until Wednesday. so for dinner tonight i still have 3 slices of melon and then a few of the beef veggies. water again lots of it this time as i need it for the uric acid that i'll be producing from today's food.

so far 6th day=SUCCESS! =)

5th day of my 7day Diet

wow! can't believe i made it to day 5 =) i'm so proud of myself. imagine i have been really controlling and disciplining myself for the past 5 days and believe me it's all effort. i have been wanting to eat rice, regular viands, and all but must stick to this otherwise when would i start having a control of myself right?

so anyway day 5 is feast day! yeey love it =) although feast day means eating only beef and 6 tomatoes. hahahaha. it's a welcome treat though after days of veggies and fruits only. since i have fruits nearly rotting i ate those first as my breakfast. it consisted a bit of melon, singkamas, watermelon, and papaya. kahit luto na ang new menu ko, which i searched in the net pa for recipes with beef and tomatoes only, i prioritized eating the fruits kasi sayang naman. =)

in between i only had water and to shoo my mind from thinking food i did my laundry and general cleaning. i was starving for my beef tomatoes lunch after. it felt soooo good to be able to eat beef =) and then while watching the Buzz i felt hungry again hahahahaha so i ate the rest of the beef and started to worry what's for dinner? to top it all my house mate asked me to cook pesto pasta. yummy it was that i wanted to break my diet already but told myself i've gone this far only to break the momentum, never mind i will cook pasta on the 8th day. hehehe. i only had singkamas, papaya, and melon for dinner and i ate before 6pm and only water until i went to bed. bad thing though, to stop craving for food, i smoked. hahaahahah talk about cleansing diet.

anyway 2 days more to go. and 5th day=SUCCESS! =)

4th day of my 7day Diet

excited ako upon waking up. made sure the other night i bought all the things i need for today's menu. i needed lipton onion soup mix but can't find here so i made my own soup.
6 large onions
1 head cabbage
1 bunch of celery
3 green peppers
salt
black pepper
and chicken mix i got from my sister made in Thailand

hinalo halo ko lang lahat sa 280z ng tubig at pinainitan, tinimpla and voila soup na =) i have this for breakfast coupled with banana shake minus sugar. then i have this soup again for lunch plus one piece of 'saba' (banana) and one glass of milk.

nothing for merienda and i'm already hungry so filled my stomach with water. hahaha

for dinner i hope not to have the soup again. i'm sick of it. and i will survive with another serving of banana shake without sugar and more water. excited to weigh myself after all these. =) this got to work or else i will eat for a week in Eat all You Can restaurants. hahahaha

3rd day of 7day diet

you think i didn't survive day 3 huh! oh well i'm back and got so busy with the evaluation review that i have forgotten to write in here. my day 3 consisted of mixed fruits and vegetables. no bananas yet though kahit gustong gusto ko ng kainig ang nalalantang saging ;(

i had more of fruits all day. watermelon, melon, avocado, mango, singkamas, at indian mango. buti na lang summer at abundant ang fruits ngayon. mura pa. =) for dinner i had one more avocado and cucumber. i was looking at fried egg, tuyo, dilis na may kamatis while having my dinner and i almost grabbed a bite but yes! i won over myself. =) again, 10 glasses or more water for today.

i feel so light and thinner but more days to go....

DAY 3 = SUCCESS! =)

2nd day of my 7day diet

i forgot to buy potato for my breakfast today. ;( so i settled for 'laswa' (mixed veggies cooked like soup only here in Negros Occidental) which composed of squash, eggplant, and 'alugbate' (of course my own mixing =) and packed steamed camote tops and eggplant for my lunch. i have nothing left for merienda and i am starving while writing this. hahaha

might have cucumber and lettuce for dinner. when i get to write my 3rd day tomorrow it means i have survived day 2. lol

going good so far. i meant to finish this with control and discipline. =)

7 Day Diet

With my 5feet height and 60kilos weight i am obese ;( I have been wanting to lose weight but no effect. Tried after 6 no solid food but water no result. ;( But i must not lose hope. Yesterday i started with my one week diet. For my first day i only had fruits except bananas. So for breakfast i had watermelon, melon, and mango. For lunch i had watermelon and melon. for merienda i had 1/4 kilo of lanzones and an apple. then for dinner i had mixed fruits with milk in organic market. the whole day i consumed about 10 glasses of water. it's a must!

it feels good to have control and disciplined myself even though my housemate has been really eating real food in front of me, i was able to hold myself pick a bit of it. hurray! instead of thinking food, i busied myself reading Why We Want You To Be Rich by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki until my eyes told me it's time for bed.

Day One = SUCCESS! =)

Cell Phones and YOUR Health

This article caught my attention especially now that cell phones are a common sight everywhere. Read on for your health protection...

One of the most common sights we see these days, is that of people with their mobile phones next to their ears. A boon for better communication, cell phone usage nonetheless has many health hazards. Various studies indicate that the emissions from a cell phone can be extremely harmful, causing genetic damage, tumors, memory loss, and increased blood pressure and weakening of the immune system. This is alarming information, and one has to take into account all these factors..

CELL PHONES AND HEALTH
Though there is no evidence of cell phones causing cancer or any such illness, but the suspicion, or fear of the same is not baseless either. The electromagnetic radiation from cell phones does have a potential link to cancer. The fact that this radiation is invisible, intangible, and enters and leaves our bodies without our knowledge makes it even more intimidating.

Possible hazards:
* Two minutes of exposure to emissions from mobile phones can disable a safety barrier in blood causing proteins and toxins to leak into the brain, could increase chances of developing Alzheimer's multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's. (Scientists at Sweden's Lund University)
* Scientists say exposure to the phones' low-level radiation causes red blood cells to leak hemoglobin and can lead to heart disease and kidney stones.
* Recent studies suggesting a link between cell-phone use and brain tumors, and the possibility that the microwaves could ignite petroleum fumes at gas stations.
* A cell phone unit, or communications tower, has so many of thee radiation emanating gadgets. This can be a problem for its immediate environment.

SPECIFIC HEALTH CONCERNS

Cancer / Tumors
Studies have been conducted suggesting that rats that have been exposed to microwaves similar to the sort generated by mobile phones but more powerful, showed breaks in their DNA which could indicate an adverse effect. Also, mice exposed to radiation for 18 months developed brain tumors. Though of course, these studies are not concrete proof.

Blood Pressure
It was observed that people using cell phones were prone to high blood pressure. Again, there isn't any concrete evidence of the same.

Pregnancy
A study at the University of Montpellier in France was carried out on 6000 chick embryos and suggested that the heavily exposed chick eggs were five times less likely to survive than the control group. This study raised questions about possible effects on pregnant women but it has not yet appeared in peer-reviewed scientific literature or been reproduced, so its findings are difficult to assess.

Headaches, Heating Effects, Fatigue
A study brought out that longer the people used mobile phones, the more likely they were to report symptoms such as hot ears, burning skin, headaches and fatigue.
The study did not include a control group (that is people who do not use mobile phones, to make a comparison); therefore the symptoms reported could have been caused by any number of other factors in the mobile phones users' environment, such as working with computers, stress, driving or reading.

Memory
There have been various studies into the connection between mobile phones and memory loss. A study looked into the effect of radiofrequency (RF) on the section of rats' brains that is linked with the memory. The results showed that RF could modify signals in the cells in a part of the brain that is responsible for learning and short term memory.

Posture (holding phone between raised shoulder and ear)
Some researchers claim that holding a mobile phone between the raised shoulder and the ear could have a damaging effect on muscles, bones, tendons and discs. These problems would apply equally to a cordless phone or a landline phone as to a mobile phone and are the effect of bad posture.

Mobile Phones and Children
Because of their smaller heads, thinner skulls and higher tissue conductivity, children may absorb more energy from a given phone than adults.

PREVENTION TIPS

* Cell phones should be used for emergencies, and not for long conversations.
* A small chip-like cell phone microwave radiation protection device is available, which has the ability to absorb electromagnetic energy waves from your mobile phone. It helps in reducing the potential harmful effects of these emissions to the human body.
* Using a mobile headset is a good idea, you don't have to hold phones next to your ears all the time
* Use a hands free mobile car kit while driving, without taking your hands off the steering wheel

THE WHO (World Health Organisation) RULES

* Mobile phone users should limit their exposure to harmful radio frequencies by cutting the length of calls.
* Hands-free devices cut exposure by keeping the instrument away from the head and body.
* Driving cum mobile phone talking should be banned.
* Mobile phones should not be used in Intensive Care Units of hospitals as they can pose a danger to patients by interfering with the working of pacemakers and defibrillators.
* People with hearing aids should not use mobile phones.
* Base stations, which have low powered antennae on their terrace to communicate with cell phones, should not be located near children's schools and playgrounds.

CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING
Studies indicate that a lot of car accidents have happened, while the driver was on the phone. This is because while driving, one obviously needs to concentrate, and talking on a phone doesn't help. Some countries like Portugal have banned the use of cell phones, which may not be very practical, as their main use is to be reachable while you are on the move. Thus, it is important to take certain precautions while driving:

* Position your phone within easy reach so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road.
* Get to know the features of your cell phone - speed dial, redial, voice mail, they can be your lifesaver. But don't dial and drive at the same time. Use a hands free kit.
* Avoid using a phone when road conditions are hazardous or traffic is heavy. You can let your voice mail take messages and then call back later.
* Don't engage in stressful conversations that may distract your attention from the road.
* Don't take notes or look up phone numbers whilst driving, wait till you can pull over.
* User abbreviated speed dialing. In fact, voice activated dialing is even better. It leaves both hands free. Frequently called numbers can be programmed.
* Have an answering machine installed that could take messages until you can return the calls. Let your co-passenger handle the calls if you are not traveling alone.

Print using less Ink by using Century Gothic font

MILWAUKEE – Here's a way you might save $20 this year: Change the font in the documents you print.
Because different fonts require different amounts of ink to print, you could be buying new printer cartridges less often if you wrote in, say, Century Gothic rather than Arial. Schools and businesses could save thousands of dollars with font changes.
Data on the subject from Printer.com, a Dutch company that evaluates printer attributes, persuaded the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to make a switch. Diane Blohowiak, coordinator of information-technology user support, has asked faculty and staff to use Century Gothic for all printed documents. The school also plans to change its e-mail system so it uses Century Gothic.
"The feedback we've gotten so far has been positive," she said. "Century Gothic is very readable."
The school of 6,500 students spends about $100,000 per year on ink and toner cartridges. Although students and staff can change the default font to something more ink-intensive, Blohowiak said the university expects to save $5,000 to $10,000 per year with the font switch.
When Printer.com tested popular fonts for their ink-friendly ways, Century Gothic and Times New Roman topped the list. Calibri, Verdana, Arial and Sans Serif were next, followed by Trebuchet, Tahoma and Franklin Gothic Medium. Century Gothic uses about 30 percent less ink than Arial.
The amount of ink a font drains is mainly driven by the thickness of its lines. A font with "narrow" or "light" in its name is usually better than its "bold" or "black" counterpart, said Thom Brown, an ink researcher at Hewlett-Packard Co., the world's top maker of printers.
Also, serif fonts — those with short horizontal lines at the top and bottom of characters — tend to use thinner lines and thus less ink than a "sans serif" counterpart.
But while using less ink at home can help you buy roughly one fewer printer cartridge each year, it's not necessarily better for the environment.
That's because some fonts that use less ink, including Century Gothic, are also wider. A document that's one page in Arial could extend to a second page if printed in Century Gothic. Blohowiak said her research suggests that ink comprises the main cost of a printout, but the environmental costs of paper are probably higher.
"Maybe the individual characters use less ink, but if you're using more paper, that's not so green, is it?" said Allan Haley, director of "words and letters" at Monotype Imaging Inc. in Woburn, Mass., which developed Century Gothic.
Also, Century Gothic was designed for limited blocks of text such as titles and headlines, not for full documents, said Haley, who describes fonts as his "children." Despite Printer.com's research and UW-Green Bay's experience, Haley said he still recommends Times New Roman or Arial for their readability.
The standard advice for trimming printing expenses still applies: Print in "draft mode," if you can. Use both sides of a page and do a print preview to make sure you're not printing pages with useless text such as a copyright line. Using an ink-saving font is just one more technique to consider.
And the greenest way to save on ink is not to print at all.
That's the philosophy Microsoft Corp. said it uses in deciding which fonts to include in its Outlook and Word applications. The more pleasing a font looks on the screen, the less tempted someone will be to print, said Simon Daniels, a program manager for Microsoft's typography group.
That's why the company changed its defaults in Office 2007 from Arial and Times New Roman to Calibri and Cambria, he said.
"We're trying to move the threshold of when people hit the print button," he said.

What will i do with my Php1,000.000.00?

i came across an article today that asked what if someone gives me one million what will i do with it? hmmmm.....interesting question that requires time to think and really think what if....? here are a few i can think of right now:

  1. i will invest Php100,000.00 to my Citiseconline account (www.citiseconline.com)
  2. i will invest Php500.000.00 to my Create Abundance community businesses (www.ca2020.net)
  3. i will put in the Php200,000.00 as deposit for the agriculture land i have been desiring to have
  4. i will divide the P100,000.00 as cause donation to AMA volunteer program (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Worcester-MA/Associate-Missionaries-of-the-Assumption/234330867775) and Cataract Foundation Philippines (www.cataractfoundation.page.tl)
  5. i will divide Php50,000.00 to my siblings to start up their own small businesses
  6. and lastly i will have the P50,000.00 for rest and recreation. First in my list would be to travel the provinces of Samar and Leyte, then visit Camiguin, and trek Mt. Kitanglad in Bukidnon
i can go on and on and on but basically i want my money to grow to be able to help more. ;_) what about you? what will you do with your one million?
